Support » Plugin: PowerPress Podcasting plugin by Blubrry » Bad Request error in WP admin Powerpress settings when clicking Save

  • Hello.

I installed the Blubrry Powerpress plugin, and switched to advanced mode.

Now whenever I click “Save Changes” or “Switch To Simple Mode” on the settings page, I get an error: “Bad Request, Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.”.

I could not find an answer to this in the forum, or by Googling. I get the same problem in MS Edge, and Chrome Version 60.0.3112.90.

    Any help is appreciated.

Likely something with your web host, but to make sure, disable and delete PowerPress from the plugins menu and then re-install PowerPress to see if that maybe clears out a corrupt file.

Sounds more like a permissions issue with the web server.

    Hello @bowsie,

Do you have access to the error.log on your website? It may indicate what the error is. It could be as simple as a conflict with another plugin.

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    @bowsie,

Please contact me cio [at] rawvoice.com we want to investigate the issue you are having. Thanks!

@amandato I’m also experiencing this error. It’s preventing me from updating information needed to syndicate my podcast on Google Play. Were you able to find a solution?

A new version of PowerPress was recently released. Please ensure you’re running the latest version (7.1.1) and let us know if the problem persists.

    Yep, confirmed 7.1.1

OK, as Angelo has suggested above, please e-mail him directly so he can look into it more in depth.

I did delete the install via WP dash, reinstalled it and still the same error. Also found the update, which I applied, still same. Due to being in a rush I had to find a different solution, so sadly unable to keep testing and help resolve.

Mailed him, still no word. Any update?

    Hello @alekseyev,

I got your email and replied with details how to send diagnostic information so we can replicate the issue. I think there may be some mod-security or similar setup on your server causing the issue, which may require access to the site’s error.log to know exactly what is happening. Something like this we just need to figure out what your server does not like about the fields we are using and then change them in our plugin. In your case specifically, it is not toggling between simple and advanced mode that is the problem, but specifically saving settings correct?

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    Hello.

I’m getting something similar. I just installed Powerpress and was taking a quick look around it when I switched to Advanced Mode. When I tried to switch back to simple mode, I received the following error message:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at [no address given] to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

@wshaw: Check with support for your web hosting provider and ask them to check the logs to see what caused the error. Report back here with their findings.

@wshaw: I was also advised by the dev team that your problem may be fixed by manually installing the latest dev version of PowerPress. You can download that here:

Same type of issue here, both with version 7.1.1 and with the latest development version mentioned by @shawnogordo.

Any time I try to save settings in Advanced Mode or switch from Advanced Mode to Simple Mode I get a “Page Not Found” error.

I deactivated all plugins and then reactivated PowerPress and still got the same error, so it doesn’t appear to be a plugin conflict.

Does anyone have a solution to this yet?

UPDATE: My web host checked the server log for errors, and they found none.
