Bad Hostname for RSS Feed
-
I’ve searched the forums and Google for two days now with no luck. If this question already exists somewhere I apologize and would be much obliged if you could point me in the right direction.
My RSS feed is not working, although I believe it was working initially before I switched the blog to a subdomain months ago, I can’t confirm that.
The site is blog.pupsplace.com
I get the following errors when I try to validate the feed
From validator.w3.org Markup Validation Service “Sorry this document cannot be checked! 500 Can’t connect to http://www.blog.pupsplace.com:80 (Bad hostname ‘www.blog.pupsplace.com’)”
From validator.w3.org Feed Validation Service “Server returned [Errno -2] Name or service not known”
From friendfeed.com “We could not download the given page”
I get these errors no matter what I try for the feed address (including adding www.)
http://example.com/?feed=rss
http://example.com/?feed=rss2
http://example.com/?feed=rdf
http://example.com/?feed=atom
http://example.com/feed/
http://example.com/feed/rss/
http://example.com/feed/rss2/
http://example.com/feed/rdf/
http://example.com/feed/atom/What I have tried so far
1. disabling all plugins (they are still deactivated)
2. the blank line declaration http://validator.w3.org/feed/docs/error/WPBlankLine.html including the option listed at http://www.w3it.org/blog/wordpress-feed-error-output-solution-how-to/
3. changing themes (using twenty twelve, was using twenty eleven)
4. changing permalinks from “Post name” to “Default” (they are now back to “Post name”)
5. checking for multiple <head></head>I do get an RSS add option when I go to the site via Chrome or Firefox but when trying to add the feed it tells me “the feed being requested cannot be found” in Google Reader.
Your time and thoughts are appreciated, thanks!
