# Bad Confirmation Link

 * Installed and activated Post Notif. However the link included in the “confirm
   your subscription” email sends subscribers to an Error 404 page. Is there something
   I’m supposed to do to set up where the link goes?

 * Thanks for trying out the plugin! I’m sorry to hear you’re running into problems.
 * It sounds, from your description, like your .htaccess file is not set up to handle
   custom permalinks (or was unset somehow). Please take a look at the Installation
   tab for this plugin ([https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-notif/installation/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-notif/installation/))
   for exact steps to take to remedy this.

 * After posting this, I had my DH have a look at the problem (He doesn’t know WordPress
   well, but is an IT guru). He found the link you mentioned and made some progress,
   but still couldn’t get the email link to work properly. He ended up posting a
   comment to your blog (sorry to come at you from two directions! :^):

    We’ve installed your plugin (changed the default permalinks to 
   something else in the list), and we can send subscription emails out. However,
   when we try to confirm our subscription using the link, we get punted to the 
   site’s 404 page. I can see the url is passed correctly from the link in the email
   to the webpage, but I can’t figure the rest out.
