• I like the clean business-type design Edin has to offer, but it fails for a few reasons:

The biggest problem is that it does not perform very well when testing on Pingdom and Google PageSpeed Insights, and I am not able to fix this all the way. If I disable either jQuery or jQuery Migrate, the navigation bar will not display at all. I cannot stop the speed-testing tools from complaining about these scripts unless I want to do without the navigation. Then as a result, I would lose visitors due to a heavily-damaged user experience.

Another problem is the icon fonts (a.k.a. Edincons and Genericons in this theme). Icon fonts are bad and should be replaced because they basically are not accessible, and it would be embarrassing to see boxes with or without Xs when they do not display properly. Plus, they use separate stylesheets, and making additional requests for these also hurt site speed. Therefore, I would have to disable these and wipe out all references to the icon fonts in the main stylesheet, and there would be no real icons for improving UX.

Overall, getting Edin to perform well in speed and UX requires too much hacking, and it is a frustrating experience.
