    Using 1.10.3 of Updraft Plus.

Recently I’ve been getting reports that I’m running out of disk space on my web site. As it turns out, the backups are piling up.

I checked Google Drive and can see that the Database only backups (which are about 4MB in size) are transferring daily, but my monthly backups of everything which can be 600-800MB in size are NOT transferring and therefore do not get removed from the local server.

    Hi,

Please can you provide a link to your log file for the problematic backup? (You can download it from the “Existing Backups” tab of your UpdraftPlus settings page).

It’ll be too long to paste into the forum here, but you can download it to your computer, and share it with Dropbox, or paste it in pastebin.com, or any similar service, and post the link here.

    Best wishes,
    David

    Hi David,

Thank you for your quick response. Here is a link to the log file:-

This was the last full backup taken that never got copied to Google Drive.

    Hi,

You’re running out of disk space whilst attempting the backup. Please see this page for info on why disk space is needed – http://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-much-free-disk-space-do-i-need-to-create-a-backup/ .

To minimise space usage (assuming you can’t just get more space), go to the ‘expert’ section at the bottom of the ‘Settings’ tab, and reduce the ‘split’ size down to 100Mb – then save settings, and try a fresh backup (though, you might also want to manually clear out any .tmp files from wp-content/updraft, as otherwise it’s theoretically possible for some to hang around for up to 12 hours and use up space in the mean-time).

    Hi David,

The reason I ran out of disk space is because the previous large backups hadn’t transferred.

    Kind regards

    Hi Chris,

So – if you move that one over manually, will that free up enough space?

To know why the previous one did not transfer, I’d need to see the log file from that backup – I can only say that the log file I’ve seen is from a backup that failed because of lack of space; but to know why the earlier backup failed, I’d need to see that one too.

    Hi David,

I manually downloaded the backups earlier and have deleted them from the local server, and I have just started a backup.
