Support » Plugin: BackUpWordPress » Backup process seems to be running endlessly

  • I am using Backupwordpress ver 3.4.3 for my site and have around 1 GB of data – files + database. I am having a peculiar problem that when I run the backup process either manual or schedule the process is never ending even after 15+ hours of running, as the ‘backing files’ indication is on. I also find there is a zipped folder in the backup folder but there is also a file by name ‘.backup-1454384997-running’ in the backup folder.

If I cancel this backup process, then all the backed folder is deleted.

I would like to know how to resolve this problem and therefore would appreciate your early response.

I need to very urgently take backup of my site.

    Regards,
    Ram

    Hi there –

What it sounds like is that your site is timing out or hitting resources during the running of the plugin on your site. This is usually due to hard limits or CPU limits on the server/host side of things, but there are things you can try.

    • Try a database-only backup, see if that completes.
    • Try a files-only backup (not complete) and see if that completes. If not,
    • Try excluding files through the “Excludes” functionality and make sure larger files are excluded to get the overall size of your backup down.

Feel free to open a support ticket in the support forums or be enabling support on your site as well.

I hope this helps in starting to troubleshoot your issue!
    Kat
