• I’ve tried to backup my installation prior to upgrading. But I think something is wrong. I’ve tried following both the Codex instructions & Tamba2 instructions. Though I’m exporting 19 tables and have 1,000 posts & lots of music & image files in my installation, I’m only getting a download file of 75KB for one download & 124KB for another.

Could someone look at this download file & see if you can see what’s wrong? Possibly I’m messing up the phpmyadmin settings (though I tried following them to the ltr.) or perhaps there’s something in my installation which is causing a problem?

  • MySQL dumps (backups) only contain the text of the posts, but no peripheral *files*. To back up your files very (important if you put them under your WordPress directory), use FTP, SCP or the like. Get them directly from your filestore.

The databases you back up contain the *locations* of such files (linkage), but not the files themeselves, which is usually fine.

You’ve got nothing but part of the sk2_blacklist file in that backup.

Maybe with [[phpMyAdmin]] you could use the Operations tab and Analyze that database table (sk2_blacklist).

But you definitely do not have a good backup.

I suspect that the server was unavailable when I wrote my reply. Michael is right. Your backup is incomplete.
