I am experiencing a strange delay in my backup jobs.
According to the LOG, the file size is 4.6GB.

however, the backup is taking an average of 10,000 seconds! (This never happened).

To make matters worse, this week the backup started to affect apache (while the program is running, I received 2 alerts that the site went down for 1 or 2 minutes).

    Server configuration information:
    – Backup is sent to AWS S3
    – the site is hosted on a digital ocean VPS and is the only site on the VPS
    – VPS: 1GB RAM / 1vCPU
    – The server has the following settings:
    WordPress version: 5.2.3
    BackWPup version: 3.6.10
    PHP version: 7.2.23 (64bit)
    MySQL version: 5.7.27-0ubuntu0.18.04.1
    cURL version: 7.58.0
    cURL SSL version: OpenSSL/1.1.1
    Content-encoding: gzip
    Server: Apache/2.4.41 (Unix) OpenSSL/1.1.1
    Operating System: Linux
    PHP SAPI: fpm-fcgi
    Current PHP user: guiainvest
    Maximum execution time: 120 seconds
BackWPup maximum script execution time: 25 seconds
    Alternative WP Cron: Off
    Disabled WP Cron: Off
    CHMOD Dir: 0755
    MySQL Client encoding: utf8mb4
    PHP Memory limit: 384M
    WP memory limit: 384M
    WP maximum memory limit: 384M
    Memory in use: 6,00 MB
Loaded PHP Extensions:: Core, PDO, PDO_ODBC, Phar, Reflection, SPL, SimpleXML, Zend OPcache, bcmath, bz2, calendar, cgi-fcgi, ctype, curl, date, dom, exif, fileinfo, filter, ftp, gd, gettext, gmp, hash, iconv, imap, intl, json, ldap, libxml, mbstring, mysqli, mysqlnd, odbc, openssl, pcntl, pcre, pdo_dblib, pdo_mysql, pdo_pgsql, pdo_sqlite, pgsql, posix, readline, redis, session, shmop, snmp, soap, sockets, sodium, sqlite3, standard, tidy, tokenizer, xml, xmlreader, xmlrpc, xmlwriter, xsl, zip, zlib

I believe I have done some bad setup, however, I am not being able to identify. can anyone please help me in solving this problem?

    Hi @zedomingues
please go to BackWPUp -> Settings -> Job tab -> Reduce server load and choose maximum and then try again. Normally it could help ^^

Strange, with this change, now the backup takes 18512 seconds. I still find it very strange for a 3 GB backup to take more than 5 hours to complete.

Today I had to cancel the backup job after 14219 seconds of execution.

I can not understand which configuration may be wrong and generating all this delay to do the back up a 4.6 GB file

    Hi @zedomingues
Could you please try set the job backup to Tar instead?
Also, did you currently running any AWS or Amazon related plugins?

    Hi @zedomingues
Reduce server load can help you prevent server overload but it causes the job to run slower

    Thread Starter zedomingues

    (@zedomingues)

    @duongcuong96

I understand that reducing server load can change job execution time.

What I don’t understand, and I’m trying to show it from the start, is how a 4,45 GB backup can take 11053 seconds? That’s the explanation I’m trying to get here (or trying to figure out what’s wrong to fix).

again: If I compare with another site I run, a 4.11 GB backup took 595 seconds

Is this a common mistake? Are there any settings I should observe that I am not observing?

    tks

    Hi @zedomingues
If both sites have the same performance, so I guess there is plugin difference, so that could lead to slow backup archive creation
