# Backup Files/DB with Shell Script

 * Hello,
 * I am interesting in running cron jobs to have automated backups cycling out every
   day of the month. Came across these 2 scripts which work well but was wondering
   what people think about them. One you enter the DB info in and the other pulls
   it from the wp-config file. What are your thoughts, and ideas for how to improve
   upon them if at all.

 * Also, on a side note, anyone know how to build in a simple progress bar or blinking
   ellipsis? Also, how to send this to another server, or to check the integrity
   of the database.

 * Do not trust any third-party scripts that directly ask for your DB info or to
   scrape wp-config.

 * Whoops, I thought we removed all of those. It’s gone now.
 * In general, we haven’t been officially recommending any shell scripts for backups
   since the first backup plugins began appearing.
 * You should never give your WordPress database connection details to a third-party
   shell script.
