    Hi,

I have been using updraft for nearly 6 months now in the last month most of the files ending in db.gz are showing up as infected by the server. I am using hostgator for servers and once I have lost all files to my site because of the infected file.

on virus scan it is showing me this public_html/Lostinwords.in/wp-content/updraft/backup_2017-02-24-0000_Lost_In_Words_3f0f97bb44d2-db.gz SiteLock-PHP-HACKEDBY-adz.UNOFFICIAL

I am using the latest version of updraft.

  • @devg02,

It sounds like part of your 2/24/17 backup has been flagged for containing potentially malicious content. Based on the type of signature that was flagged, I believe you’ve probably just stored a backup of a defaced page.

I am relatively familiar with HostGator’s terms of service, and my understanding is that most likely your other files have not been deleted by HostGator, but the account is likely temporarily suspended. Removing the offending file “backup_2017-02-24-0000_Lost_In_Words_3f0f97bb44d2-db.gz” and notifying HostGator that you have done so should resolve the suspension. Once reinstated, please also be sure that you’re running the latest version of WordPress.
