Backup fails -> File exists, but not modified

My backups stopped working a few days ago, I believe it was just after the latest update. Until now they have been working fine.

Whenever I try a backup, it ends up stalling with a line similar to:

File exists (/home/dh_kf52pj/jkdiscs.com/wp-content/updraft/backup_2021-10-09-2309_JK_Discs_25776d0cd6a7-uploads3.zip.tmp), but was apparently not modified within the last 30 seconds, so we assume that any previous run has now terminated (time_mod=1633843295, time_now=1633843471, diff=176) (Oct 09 23:24:31)

I rolled back to version 1.16.61, and today I was able to get it to successfully complete a backup.

The temporary files will be automatically deleted. Please see FAQ: https://updraftplus.com/faqs/will-updraftplus-leave-large-temporary-files-behind-like-some-other-backup-plugin/

If that does not happen, please let us know.

I realize the temporary files will be deleted, BUT, this was stopping the backup from happening.

Hi,

We do recommend having twice as much free space available in cases backups fails.

Thank you for the responses, but that’s not the question.

This is the line that stops it all:

It has nothing to do with the disk being full, nor am I complaining about temporary files.

The backup is stopping because it is assuming it is complete, when it is not. Rolling back to the previous version of UpdraftPlus solves the problem. There appears to be a bug in this version.

The backup appears to stop on each resumption.

Are you able to check your PHP error logs please?
