    Hi,

What makes you say that the backup failed, rather than is just not yet finished?

Ok, oh, is the backup still running? In that case , it did work? Do I need to keep my site dashboard open and logged in until the backup has been created or is this a working independently “server side” ? Thanks for your plugin, I keep learning more and more each week!

    Hi,

You don’t need to be logged in – it’ll resume by itself (as long as the website has more than zero visitors).

A tiny site may finish backing up in 30 seconds. A very large one may need an hour. A gigantic one may need two, depending on available resources.

In a future version we’ll get more visual feedback on what’s going on under the bonnet… the log file is helpful, but also tends to scare people prematurely. Basically, wait an hour and then let us know then if it still looks like it’s not finished (though I’ll not be online until Monday).

Good news! Yes it does work!
Found this message on the Backup Page after about half an hour:
The backup apparently succeeded and is now complete (Jul 20 20:59:56)

    Great!

If you find UD useful, then please give us a good review at:

    Many thanks,
    David

    I’m getting the message:
The backup apparently succeeded (with warnings) and is now complete (Jan 13 21:19:40)

Searching the log for ‘warning’ I find this entry:
    binziptest/test.zip not found or empty

Safe to assume it’s a good backup?

Thanks… first use out of the box and really like it!

Hi, I think this thread is closed… but, I had no more problems with this program, it works well. Your warning message shows that there is a missing file. Do you need that file? Is it there somewhere? You could simply add that file to your folders by FTP? The main thing is that you get the database really, since all other files are easy to find on the FTP system.. good luck, Groggo

    Hi,

To see what the warning was (it’s not the line you’ve copied), look in the UD settings page – or configure an email report, and read it out of there.

The next release has a change which will cause warnings to be more clearly identified in the log file.

    David
