To start with , there’s a real problem for me with what the backspace key does in Gutenberg compared with how practically every text writer/Word processor interface I’v
ever used in over 25 years of computer use.
Backspace in Gutenberg deletes an entire section/paragraph!
I cant change the way I intuitively type for this single program (ie expecting backspace to only delete the character after the cursor) as in virtually every other type interface I know and I suspect many other users specially those otherwise used to old WP Tiny MCE etc or even newcomers coming to WP from other Word processing programs will be thrown by this .

    Not good.

There is a ticket already open I am going to add your feedback to as I think it is important we look at existing flows of users.

    https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/2179: is the issue.

Thank you for giving feedback and knowing more about how users are interacting and their experience is incredibly important.

Ok thanks for noting this. Of curse I meant the character “before the cursor”, not “after” is what normal deletion behaviour is. I do think it’s barmy that on top of everything else they are trying to introduce new unexpected keystroke actions that have otherwise served word processor type interfaces for decades and WP for its shorter life, and it is somehow a revelation that that might be problematic. Why complicate it even more?
