I have some questions about backlinks/Incoming links.

    1. Are they one in the same?

    2. Why are they not showing up on my dashboard? It looks like I have a few, but I did a test of backlinking to my blog the other day, and nothing is showing up. How should it be configured?

I am so confused, but I feel like something is missing and I am missing opportunities to increase my SEO.

  • I’m pretty sure that backlinks are the same as incoming links.

On your dashboard to the right of the title incoming links if you hover over the grey area, you’ll notice that there a link that shows up called configure. Click on that and make sure that the url is configured properly.

Finally, one word of warning about SEO…. Stop worrying about it.

Just focus on the content. If you write good material, people will come.

    Thank you for your response!

So….How do you know if it is configured properly? 🙂

And I am so with you on SEO- I rarely worry about it for my own blog, but this is for a client, and I want to make sure it is configured properly!

Just make sure that the url at the end doesn’t have any subdirectory.

    It should look like

    http://blogsearch.google.com/blogsearch_feeds?scoring=d&ie=utf-8&num=10&output=rss&partner=wordpress&q=link:http://www.domainname.com/

if you installed WordPress in it’s own directory, it might have the wp or wordpress folder at the end.

If you just set up the site, it might take a few days too for these to show up.

Awesome! Everything looks like it is set up on my end correctly… but when people link up to me, I am not sure why it isn’t showing up. Hmm..
