# background image for navigation menu

 * I have been tasked with making a website for a leather worker who likes to have
   an authentic looking responsive website. He has asked that the main navigation
   menu has a background image of leather, instead of the standard coloured menu
   background.
 * I’ve searched online for a way to do this. It seems possible on themes that are
   not responsive.
 * Does anyone know if this will be possible on a responsive theme ? If so please
   give the name of such a theme that will allow it.

 * Pretty much any responsive theme should allow this.
 * You just need to add some CSS to make it work.
 * For example see [http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_background-image.asp](http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_background-image.asp)
   but which html tag you attach the background to will depend on which theme you
   choose.
 * Do you know how to use the Inspect Element tool in your browser? If not, learn–
   it’s very useful. You could look at the demo version of any theme and *pretend*
   to add CSS to see if it looks ok at different screen sizes, before you purchase
   it.

 * I can see how this would work for the desktop version of the website but what
   about the mobile version ?

 * Depends on the theme. Some creativity involved.
 * But whether you’re viewing on desktop or mobile, it’s still CSS and you can tweak
   it.
