if you use the custom css:
body{
background: blue;
}
in the customiz’it feature, all the way on the bottom where it says custom css, it will change your background.
here is also a list of all possible (and impossible) colours with their css names, they work, i tried them.

It depends on how you want to change it. This has been answered various times on this forum (which is small–just 14 pages). One person even showed how to make a multi-coloured rainbow effect. I suggest you have a look at past posts to see what does what you want.
