backend edit products extremely slow, 40-60 seconds

Hi all,

The edit product in admin is extremely slow.
After having some developers and serverside people looking in to this they came to one conclusion: woocommerce plugin is causing this.

Clean install of woocommerce, no other plugins, storefront theme.
Only did an import of a pretty clean product csv.
Takes like 40-60 seconds to get to edit a product page in backend.
Backend entering pages like All products, categories, tags etc take only 2 seconds.

Everything looks healthy in the report. Can you please check with your web host and see if they have any server logs?

Perhaps you can catch an error code or two that can help us understand what’s going on here. 🙂

Thanks, but of course these are not the problems. I do not have a slow site. Only a slow product edit. Even quick product edit is fast. So really only product edit pages.
As i already mentioned: Clean install of woocommerce, no other plugins, storefront theme. No significant change if i use wp rocket, wp optimize or so.
Could someone please check and try the product csv. I am sure it will be the same:

Could someone please check and try the product csv.

I just spun a fresh WooCommerce test install and started the importer for the products in the .CSV file. It seems to be taking some time, since there are a lot of products and variations to import, so I’ll go ahead with updating here with the findings after it is completed.

I went ahead with trying on two test installations, one local and another on a server, online; just to make sure.

I’m happy to report that in both situations, everything was rapidly responding; sorry! Both clean installs, with only WooCommerce installed and, just to make things a bit more interesting, in one with the Storefront and the other with the Twenty Twenty-Two theme active.

Could you check if you are able to reproduce the issue you are reporting here under the following conditions:

1. An unmodified, default WordPress theme such as Twenty Twenty or Storefront active.
2. No other plugins except for WooCommerce active.

@anastas10s Thanks, i did try with the same setup on a different simple server, and no problems there. So although cloudways keeps telling it is not a problem in there servers in only happens with cloudways vultr servers. I will update later.

ok, so now the case is that if i use the less bloated csv to import loading of the product edit page is not slow, but if using the original csv it goes from a few seconds to 1 minute to go to product edit page.
Could somebody try or check the original csv and advise me what is the cause of this? I am pretty sure this will happen with you if you import original all data csv.
