• The back-end of my website is extremely slow and drops out. The front end is fast according to GTMatrix which gave me an A grade for my website.

I have a business plan with godaddy with plenty of resources (Hopeless). They advised me to do a trace-route test inputting my website IP. They blamed my ISP and my ISP say’s there is nothing wrong. In my experience i believe my ISP as Godaddy support tech have lied to me numerous times.

So far, I have used different internet connections, performed a hard reboot on my router, used 7 devises all new; less then six months old to check the backend of my website. Reset my PHP, upgraded my PHP, cleared my Caches (on website and browsers), checked my hosting resources that are barely used at this point, preformed a minify, used Putty to flush my server connection, checked my DNS for each website ensuring they point to the right IP, disabled all of my pluggins to test performance – nothing, and yeah called godaddy tech support and sent a cumulative 3 days with them with no result.

I need advise? Also, I abused Godaddy on twitter to release my frustration yet they have not responded to me. Also, I learnt that alot of people abuse godaddy on twitter.

Open to idea’s at this point as I have paid big $$$$$$ to godaddy for unusable sites.

    Thanks

  • Do a traceroute from your computer to your website. A quick search should give you results of how to do that with your OS. Your looking for 4 numbers which are connection time to your site. The lower the better, at least under 100ms. That will tell you if any connection problems between where you are and where you want to go to.

Use Browser Dev Tools (F12) to compare back-end load time with front-end. Shouldn’t be too much of a difference.

Cannot advise anything else as no website given to test.

    Trace complete.

I am not a pro at reading these number but what I understand is that there is a connection problem with godaddy servers.

Trace-route using F-12 Dev Tool tool 75000ms (long time).

I am open to more suggestions….

Not a problem connecting to GoDaddy but some of the hops in-between. So both GoDaddy & your ISP are correct when they say the connection problem is not with them.

What does the Browser Dev tool say for page load, front-end compared to back-end?

    Thread Starter abusultaan

    (@abusultaan)

    Back-end loads at 75000ms

And your front-end loads at ???

BTW, 75,000ms is 1 min. 15 sec. If it takes that long then yes, that is extremely slow and hopefully the Browser Dev tools can tell you why.

If front-end is loading at 73,000m and back-end at 75,000ms, then for you, your back-end is not loading all that slow. It’s all relative based on where someone is.

Does it feel to you like one end is slower than the other?

BTW, .map file will never load but then, they shouldn’t be there either. That’s a correction required usually in the Theme.

Front-end loads fast, and when I conduct a GTMatrix test I recieve a grade A.

Back-end is slow usually 1-2 minute load time and if I execute commands it usually takes that much time or it will just crash. When it crashes the CSS also crashes and sometimes you will just get the basic html coding (view).

Front-end loads at 20,000ms and you can see some images and the whole structure of the website. However, it takes about 73,000ms to fully load the page.

Now if I use my mobile internet or you go on to the website it works fine and it is super fast. Although, if I use a mobile internet connection to work on the back-end it’s the same result. It takes 1-2 minute to execute commands or just times-out and crashes.

I have had this problem for know 4 or 5 days and all i want to do is work on my website but I have never encountered a problem of this nature.

What is probably happening is that the database is on a separate server and overloaded. So when you try to update anything (write) there will be a problem for you but loading the front-end (read) is OK. So either GoDaddy will get the problem fixed or you can ask them to move your database to another server. Explaining what the problem is and what you think is the cause. See if they will respond or at least verify there is a problem with a timeline for correcting.

Mind you, the problem could also be with any one of your Plugins and you could disable them all then re-enable one-by-one to see what happens. Might be worth the effort as GoDaddy could also say the problem is with a Plugin. If they do and you’ve already done the testing, you force them to look into the problem further.

Remember to document everything. Not only for your own records of what happened, when, and what you did (in case this happens again) but also to verify to anyone who asks. Troubleshooting and Documentation go hand-in-hand and part of website maintenance.

Sorry for the late reply Website Rob,

My mind was just fried due to trouble shooting for a few days. I just needed some sleep and a few hours away from the computer.

Thank you so much for your advice, it has been invaluable.

I am going to do as you say. I Hope this will fix the issues.

    Thank you again.
