Hi, I’m wondering if someone can help. I’m using the Baby log theme and I’m trying to change the menu and widget menu to Black with Yellow writing, I have been playing and sort of stuffed up- webpage is http://feebeecreations.com.au/

The yellow i want for the writing is #f7f40f

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

  • Are you using Firebug to work with CSS? It will show you exactly where the CSS is coming from – and then you can use that code in a child theme or custom CSS – to change it.

Make sure that you are not making changes in theme files – they will be lost when the theme is updated.

ok i have downloaded firebug and it works well, i think i have found what to edit- so when you say to change in the child or custom css rather then in the theme, do you mean if i go to my cpanel and edit from that admin instead? Sorry I’m still a learner when the editing side of things.

No I mean you should not be modifying theme files at all (style.css or any php files ). See http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

or for just custom CSS: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/jetpack/

Any changes you make in theme files will be lost upon updating the theme — you really don’t want to go there :).

Should have also added – -when you find the styles using Firebug — copy the CSS code you want to change to the child or custom CSS – and make the changes there.

    Thank you.
