 * I was reading the b2/cafelog to WordPress conversion posts and began to wonder
if it would be easy to convert from b2/evolution to WordPress. I didn’t see b2/
evo mentioned as one of the CMS supported by your upgrade script. Can someone
provide a quick set of instructions on this? Thanks in advance.

 * Hrmm… I wouldn’t think it would be easier, as b2/evo uses a different database
format from b2, so you would have to find a way to port the b2/evo db format
   over to wordpress.

 * Ack! That’s not what I wanted to hear. 🙂

 * ehm, isn’t b2/evo about having multiple blogs?
I can’t see how it might work
to port all blogs, if you have more than one. You’d probably loose all but one
   if you wouldn’t install several wp’s… That’d be way difficult, I suppose…

 * I’ll look into having an import for the next release. Would you be willing to
   donate some data for testing?

 * **TigerDE2:** Yes, it does support multiple blogs, but I only had one. Shouldn’t
   be a problem.
**allusion:** Of course! I’d be willing to donate my entire b2/
evolution database for your testing. Feel free to email me.

 * I was considering upgrading B2 to B2EVO b4 I had heard about WP.
    Good to hear
someone who thinks WP is worth upgrading from B2EVO even when WP as of now does
   not support multiple blogs…

 * **Sushubh:** Don’t get me wrong. b2/evolution is a great content management system.
It’s very flexible, easy to use and has an active and helpful user base. My [reasons for switching](http://clotman.com/archives/2004/1/16/2)
may not apply to you, so I think you should compare both systems on your own
and determine which best meets your needs.

 * well let’s say WP fulfills most of my wishes… 🙂 i need a CMS though… any good
open source solution someone can provide!
i need normal pages that can be edited
and posted from the browser itself. a lot like WIKI but less complex.

 * I was originally going to go with B2/Evo… but no matter what I tried I couldn’t
get anybody on the forums to help me convert from MT to Evo. Then I checked out
the WP forums, and I found people here to be MUCH more responsive to new users.
   So now I’m a WP zealot 🙂

 * i just dont need a date based content system. i want a section on a site that
can be totally managed online without using FTP or so… People add content in
text form, it gets added to a predefined format. A lot like WP but without the
post/date based interface. I hope that makes some sense.. :-S
    maybe I can use
the page from the WP source that lets u edit any page on the site that is CHMODed
for write… ooh I am getting confusing here :p

 * **antifuse:** Interesting. I guess my experiences with getting b2/evo support
aren’t the norm. Well, it worked out for you in the end. I’m really getting comfortable
   with WordPress.
**Sushubh:** You can easily get rid of the dates by just deleting
that php code from your source. And if you know XHTML/CSS basics, you can tweak
the output format to whatever you like. I usually ssh to my server and use Vi
to edit the stylesheet and the PHP files so I can see my changes right away.
And if you have any questions, you can always bring them to the WordPress support
forums. As antifuse said, people are very helpful here.

 * Intresting in giving WP a try as well, but I just upgraded to b2e from b2 a few
weeks ago. Is the converter still in the works? I may just install fresh and
   give it a looksy.

 * Quote clotman: “And editing comments in b2/evolution can only be done in phpMyAdmin
   or another similiar tool.”
That’s completely wrong. In the back-office, you
can select to read the comments for a specific post, and there edit and delete
buttons are shown next to each post. -Vegar

 * Just correcting myself: Edit and delete buttons are shown next to each comment.

 * Funky M, you’re right! I never realized that could be done. I assumed that because
the comments didn’t appear when I clicked “edit post’, they couldn’t be edited.
My apologies for spreading the misinformation.
