Support » Fixing WordPress » b2 to WordPress in 2.0

  • Ok, I admit, I had one old b2 blog hanging around for a long time client. It was too buggy and with most of the files deleted, I am finally tackling switching it over to WP.

I converted one before, but it was to WP 1.5, where there was a wp-admin/import-b2.php file that I used. But that file is not in 2.0. Any hint on how to go about it? B2 is not listed in the import section now.

( I sure wish the WP search engine was working! I might be able to find the answer w/o buggin’ y’all. )

    Thanks in advance.

BTW, I’m using the instructions at Wild Mind: but it calls for using import-b2.php, so I’m stuck.

    Thanks again,

  • Wellllll…. how about just grabbing a 1.5.2 distro from, installing that, importing b2, THEN upgrading?

And searching: there’s some good tips in one of the HUGE pink stickies at the top….

I hadn’t thought of that. I have an old distro, so that would be no problem.

And…… I’ve been wanting to try an upgrade anyway. All the 2.0’s i’m running are new installs.

I’ll let you know how it goes… 🙂

Do that! Shouldn’t be a problem (she says, crossing body parts….), but if it is, post back!

Don’t forget to back up that b2 database, just in case!

    What a pain! I did that…

Big problem in that the tables don’t all have the same fields.

I’m not sure if I took the best route, but i could NOT get my mysql statements right and had to add all the missing field names one by one. I am NOT one for tedium, so it was a headache.

But my b2’s are now WP’s (I hope!). THANK GOD I don’t have anymore B2’s!!!

    Now… for upgrading to 2.0… maybe. ;P

Ooooo. I’m sorry! There’s always a “gotcha” it seems.

Be sure you back up what you just completed!
