Hi Cristian,
Sorry you ran into issues here.
Is the white screen of death happening when you change the settings or when you upload an image?
Are you uploading a REALLY big image? Knowing what I know about your server, that could be the issue since you’re on a shared host. That would indeed cause a white screen if the image is:
– very, very large
– exceeds the time PHP allows for an upload
– and gets the thread killed that runs your web page at the time
Is that what is happening here?
Can you try a smaller size file? Does it work if you use a tiny image?
Yes sure. With smaller image no problem. I have had the support request. I realized only when I had an image file. It is not easy to have such a great image. The problem is my hosting? If I have understood you.
Well, hosting is definitely part of it. In general, you can’t just upload massive images without a cost. Images over 2MB can be a problem for a number of hosts, not just shared hosting. Try to upload images of a reasonable size that meet the needs of your site. That’s my general suggestion.
No, the problem is not the weight. The problem is the pixel. I need good pictures because mold on paper.
I did a test.
I did test ad. I inserted two image files.
File 1 to 5.21 MB – Pixel: 6675×2083
All went well.
File 2 to 0.67 MB – 8000×8000 Pixel
white screen of death!
So it appears the image width/height is the problem here. What are you max height/width settings for your Images in AWPCP?
My guess is that your web hosting server is choking on that image when making a thumbnail. AWPCP accepts it but the server lacks the horsepower to process an image of that width/height. I don’t think it’s a file size issue now.
I would still recommend against images that large–displaying the image on the web doesn’t require one more than 100-300KB, really. A size of 1400×800 is more than enough for showing on pretty much any screen. Larger images are just a waste of download time.
If you need an image on the ad for download reasons, use the attachments module instead. It’s going to be easier on AWPCP to do it that way, since it doesn’t process the image to create a thumbnail.
