Hi Elengia, I’m sorry you have had a bad experience with support. First of all, I’m sorry we didn’t get to you. We prioritize support requests from paying customers first, and we’ve been backlogged lately as some recent support requests have needed us to code up new features in support. On the flipside, the good news is that everyone will get to benefit from this work!

I checked, and was able to find one support request in our helpdesk. You asked:

Promoted Content Ads NOT WORKING. How to make it work? I followed the instructions and nothing shows.

Advertisers pay Shareaholic to distribute content recommendations, which are displayed as clearly marked sponsored posts alongside Related Content from your own site. You in turn generate revenue from the traffic you drive to these posts while continuing to promote your own site content.

Assuming you have the Promoted Content option turned on [instructions], whether or not Promoted Content Ads show up on your site depend on whether advertisers would like to target your audience with their message. This depends on many factors, such as the content, traffic quality, audience geographic location, etc. The mix of advertisers is always evolving, so if there is nobody targeting your audience today, that can change tomorrow.

How do advertisers know audience factors, traffic quality, audience geographic location etc – do we need to activate shareaholic analytics and perhaps at some point the content will suddenly appear?

Traffic and content quality, yes… you should have Shareaholic analytics enabled. Geo detection is taken care of by the ad server.

ok.. but I can’t leave it on and hope for the best, it might break the site when someone decides to advertise, and sounds like there may not be enough variety of promoted contents for some audiences. Any solution to those 2 points?

Nothing should break. Our systems are hardened, powering advertising across tens of thousands of sites.
