Awesome plugin – dropped spam form submission significantly

I’ve been using this plugin for 2 weeks. My site has a set of forms to allow individuals to request more information. Like many of you, I was being bombarded with proposals for bitcoin, girls, become rich, site optimization, and just about every other scam/spam. To find the legitimate requests for information was growing more difficult.

I added reCAPTCHA to the forms and still they were getting through.

I also used another plugin to block backend login attempts, but I’d see attempts to login many times a day being blocked. I’m one of less than 10 people with backend login privileges. None of those attempts were from any of us.

After installing WP GEO Website Protection and configuring it to block the 3 countries that created most of the spam and login attempts (controllable on the frontend and backend separately), the spam went to a trickle and the logins have stopped.

When I look at the included log reporting, I can see they are still attempting access to my forms and login screen, but they are being blocked. The report gives me a great visual on where they are coming.

I wish I had found this plugin two years ago.
