Easy to Use But Quirky
-
Easy to use. Easy to understand. Amazing results. Sometimes there are a few hiccups but when I retry, the operations complete.
It is a little buggy. I have it on about 120 sites. Some are great while others I have ad to uninstall it. There are a variety of reasons.
1. For some reason, the sites stop working.
2. On a few there is an error that starts showing in the logs – when I checked support, they said to turn it off and on to fix – did that but didn’t fix it and felt that wasn’t the most reliable way to handle things.
3. Plugin conflicts on a coupleI find the lazy load causes issues so do not use that.
The Database cleaning function caused issues so I use WP Optimize for that which seems to not cause problems.
I still use W3 Total Cache but only for the object caching because it is plugin & play as compared to the Redis plugins that require additional file modifications.
My Google speed tests have gone up on each site I’ve switched over to Hummingbird.
Great if using this for individual sites.
If you are doing updates for more than one site from the server, beware. Hummingbird may break the layout of the site so that you will need to individually go in and clear the cache. I have over 100 sites so it is a bit wearisome.
If you custom the minimization, Hummingbird often resets everything back when clearing the cache. This is extremely frustrating as all the custom minimization settings have to be reset.
