Support » Plugin: Genesis eNews Extended » Aweber not tracking displays on enews forms

  • Resolved deanj31csc

    Looked around but couldn’t find this issue in other support submissions.

    For some reason, Aweber is unable to track how many times my forms using enews widget have been displayed. It tracks the submissions but not the displays. Because of this, I’m not able to see how “effective” my opt in is…no % can be calculated.

    I’m on Genesis 2.0 using the latest version of Focus child theme. I’ve double checked and I have all the hidden fields from my aweber publish html copied into the widget. Not sure what the issue could be. I am using widget cache, but have it turned off for the enews widgets. All other (non-enews) opt ins on site are tracking correctly.

    Here’s my web site url:

    Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks

    I’ll have to check into this a bit more as I’m not an aweber user myself. My initial thought is that the “pure” code provided by aweber includes either a very small 1px image that loads to confirm if the form has been made or some type of javascript.

    Could you copy/paste the complete code that aweber generates for you (either here or via a site like ) and I can run some checks to confirm before sending you on a wild goose chase 🙂

    Thanks Brandon for the reply. Here’s the code:

    Could you try adding this to the end of your hidden fields tag?
    <img src="" alt="" />

    Without being able to test it, it appears that loading that image is what Aweber uses to track displays. If that works, please let me know and I’ll update documentation.

    So I added this code to hidden files:

    <img src=”” alt=”” />

    But for some reason, when I’d save the widget that code would not save. When I’d go back into the widget, the code wasn’t there anymore and it still didn’t track in aweber.

    So what I tried that did work was I just pasted the above code into the “text” section at the top of the widget. In other words, I put it in the section where I have the wording for my opt in which people see when they come to my site. It did stay there and the image is so small (or transparent) that it isn’t seen and does not affect the layout of my form. But once I did that, it DID begin tracking in Aweber.

    Actually, when I first put it into the text area, I tried including the div element from Aweber that makes it “display none” but that didn’t keep on saving. Didn’t matter in this case though b/c the image didn’t affect the form at all.

    Just wanted to report back to you in case this helps with the developoment of the widget later. Cheers.
