• Recently I tried the Away Mode and carefully set it to switch off after a few hours.

However, a couple of weeks later, I am unable to login, and getting the 404 message.

    (404 Error File Not Found
The page you are looking for might have been removed,
had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.)

Is it possible that I did not enter the expiration date/time correctly? Or is it possible that there is a fault?

Is there any way to override the block by going in via the host’s CPanel?

    Many thanks for help.

  • Hi,

This is not behavior of Away Mode being activated. To make sure this is an issue with iThemes Security could you please rename it’s plugin directory to something like better-wp-securit.bak and see if that fixes the issue?

    Thanks,

many thanks Gerroald for your swift response.

I renamed the directory and – alas – the problem remains. Any tips for where else to look?

    Hey DM,

The first thing I’d suggest is contacting your host. They’ll likely have an idea of what’s going on.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
