# Avoiding caching problems

       The following process has worked for me. Do you have any comments on it.I had a file on my computer image1.svg and loaded it into WordPress media. I wanted to change the image so I:. created a new file image2.svg. opened WP media to view image1. replaced image1 with the new image2. used the option “Replace the file, use new file name, and update all links”. reloaded caption, description etc.. I immediately saw the impact of my change on each webpage that displayed the image.. I did not have to purge any cachesI had caching problems when I:. updated image1 by overwriting my file image1. opened WordPress media to view image1. replaced image1 with the new image1. Used “Just replace the file”. the cache kept on showing me the outdated version of image1.

 * Yes, that’s perfectly fine and normal as “Replace the file, use new file name,
   and update all links” normally changes the filename to the new one and also updates
   all links, which busts the cache.
 * The other replacing method uses the same filename and link, so this is why a 
   cache purge is needed!
