Hi @vermaakpetrus
Glad to hear that you found a solution that fits your needs. Your success with online donations is our number one priority.
As you know, the legalities, complications, and red tape around international currency support are numerous for Payment Gateways, and some countries like South Africa are especially difficult to integrate with. It’s an odd twist that PayPal (founded by Elon Musk) has no real option for accepting South African currency at all.
You’re right that Payfast recurring support is a relatively popular request, currently with 31 votes on our feedback site here: https://feedback.givewp.com/feature-requests/p/recurring-donations-in-the-payfast-gateway
Given unlimited time and resources, we’d develop *all the things* and have *all the features* but it’s just not a reality at this time. With the resources that we have now, it’s not made the top of the priority list, and if it were as simple as flipping a switch to turn on that support, we’d do it.
You mention “bugs, shortcomings, and limitations” and I’m curious what exactly you mean. It sounds like Payfast recurring support is a dealbreaker, and that’s understandable. If you’re aware of bugs, we’re definitely keen to know about them.
I searched your history of communication with us, and you’ve reached out twice, once back in 2020 for Zapper Payment Gateway support, and once recently about Payfast recurring support. Perhaps I’m missing the ticket or email where you found a bug, but I will personally look into any problems you have. We take bug reports very seriously.
Have a great day!

PayFast has nothing to do with us mentioning bugs, shortcomings, and limitations! I’m not going to list all of them, as I have moved on, but here is one major issue: We connected a UK PayPal Business account. We tried a test and the credit card checkout disappeared and was replaced with a PayPal login button. No reason was provided. It was not a restriction on the account as WooCommerce Payments was also integrated, and it showed the Credit Card checkout option. We made a test payment in WooCommerce Payments via credit card and received the money. We also contacted PayPal and they confirmed there were no restrictions on our account that could be the cause. We really tried to love Give WP, and have tried it on and off for 5 years now. It’s terrible.
And by the way, your comment about this is just totally absurd:
Given unlimited time and resources, we’d develop *all the things* and have *all the features* but it’s just not a reality at this time.
It’s not an independent plugin or free feature we’re requesting! YOU’RE SELLING THE PAYFAST PAYGATE! Remove it, or fix it, because it’s not working as it should!
Thanks for the clarification on the PayPal-related issues. We’d have been happy to look into those given the chance.
And perhaps I can clarify on the root issue of recurring support for Payfast: we support Payfast one time donations, and that functionality is completely operational.
The recurring functionality for Payfast uses a different API that we would need to devote time and development resources to in order to develop, test, and support. It’s on our roadmap, but doesn’t have a timeline yet.
We advertise prominently on the Payfast add-on sales page that it does not support recurring donations.
So it does work, it just doesn’t support all of the functionality your organization needs, specifically recurring donation support. I’m glad you’ve now found a solution that supports your needs. Have a great day!
WooCommerce PayFast (FREE) supports both once-off and recurring, straight out of the box, no questions asked.
You would do a lot better if your plugin supported WooCommerce checkout ability. Then any paygate may be used.
I give up with you guys replying to make yourselves sound good. I will not engage further. After all, everyone can test and see for themselves.
SAME SAME!!
This plugin is a nightmare.
