 * Hi Frank,
 * I’ve read your FAQ pages on how to handle the render blocking issue for Autoptimize,
   however, this has left me with two questions.
 * 1. You state that it should not be render blocking and there may be a plugin
   that causes the render blocking issue. Do you know if any of the following plugins
   create this issue: Askimet Anti-Spam, Async Javascript, CAOS, Elegant Themes
   UPdater, Google Reviews Business, MindBody Widget, SG Optimizer (Siteground),
   Wordfence Security, WP Smush, Yoast SEO Premium, Local, and Video.
 * 2. I attempted to use the above the fold method with the inline and defer option
   to resolve the “issue”, however, while the main page that the above the fold
   is extracted from looks fine, it creates formatting issues on all other pages.
   Do you have a recommended solution for this “issue”?
 * Thanks, Robert

 * I had a quick look at GPSI result for your site and the only render-blocking
   seems to be the Autoptimized CSS, so going “inline & defer” is the correct way.
 * If the critical CSS breaks some pages, you can either;
    * generate the critical
   CSS elsewhere to see if some other tool generates better code or amend the CSS
   yourself manually * OR implement something to allow you to define different critical
   CSS for different pages. possibilities; the “Autoptimize criticalcss.com Power-
   up” which you can add to a (premium) criticalcss.com subscription or try the

   plugin
 * hope this helps,

 * Thanks for the advice. I did add the criticalcss.com premium subscription, which
   has eliminated the render blocking of Autoptimize, while significantly improving
   my mobile score. Now when I run Google Pagespeed Test, the only message I get
   for both desktop and mobile now is:
 * Prioritize visible content
    Your page requires additional network round trips
   to render the above-the-fold content. For best performance, reduce the amount
   of HTML needed to render above-the-fold content. 102.9KiB of the HTML response
   was required to render the above-the-fold content. This requires 4 network round-
   trips. Prioritize the above-the-fold content so that it can be rendered with
   only the first 2 round-trips’ worth of HTML. None of the final above-the-fold
   content could be rendered with the HTML delivered within 2 round-trips.
 * Jonas doesn’t think this is much of an issue. Do you have a suggestion for how
   to address this google recommendation?
 * Thanks, Robert

 * I checked the HTML source of a couple of your pages, and I don’t the above-the-
   fold CSS being injected Robert? After having taken the subscription at criticalcss.
   com, how did you proceed to add your critical css?

 * You’re RIGHT! I neglected to copy the critical CSS from the criticalcss website
   and add it to the inline and defer window. The instructions weren’t quite clear
   but now I’m at 94 and 95 with only my server speed slowing me down. Thanks for
   the quick feedback.

 * Hey Guys,
 * This plugin has to be the best plugin I have used as I continue to recommend
   it.
 * I need a little help, same as above:[https://securityboston.international/](https://securityboston.international/)
 * I get this message from Google Dev Site Test “The median page requires 4 round
   trips and 2.7 MB. Fewer round trips and bytes results in faster pages.”

 * weird @joshuabi, as I see
 * > PSI estimates this page requires 0 additional round trips to load render blocking
   > resources and 1.1 MB to fully render. The median page requires 4 round trips
   > and 2.7 MB. Fewer round trips and bytes results in faster pages.
 * for mobile and
 * > PSI estimates this page requires 0 additional round trips to load render blocking
   > resources and 0.9 MB to fully render. The median page requires 4 round trips
   > and 3.4 MB. Fewer round trips and bytes results in faster pages.
 * for desktop for that URL?

 * It was working fine a few weeks back, not sure what’s changed?

 * hard to say [@forbiddenchunk](https://wordpress.org/support/users/forbiddenchunk/).
   GPSI might have changed. you might have updated theme or plugins. you might have
   changed something that affects the structure of the above-the-fold part of your
   homepage (as I guess that’s what you’re testing). Assuming you’re doing “inline&
   defer”, you will probably have to re-generate (and or tweak) the critical CSS.

 * Thanks for getting back to me promptly [@futtta](https://wordpress.org/support/users/futtta/).
 * Some plugins have been updated, but nothing has been changed except content updates.
   I’m testing speed right now because it went from around 1sec to 12secs.

 * then you have bigger problems then “render blocking CSS” or the amount of round-
   trips I’m afraid.
