Autoptimize messes with Elementor CSS

    I have been using Autoptimize for a while now with no issues but after an update (not sure when, just stumbled over the issue recently) it started to mess with Elementor e.g. plugins were blocked, footers didn’t display correctly and blog pages were all over the place.

    I now excluded all Elementor CSS but I don’t think that’s how it should work since it’s a big chunk of the css that I want this plugin to optimize. Can you please check and see why this is happening and if there’s a backend fix for this?

    (Here are the files I needed to exclude to fix the site: wp-content/uploads/elementor/css/, wp-content/plugins/elementor-pro/assets/, wp-content/plugins/elementor/assets/css/)

    there has been no change in how AO handles CSS after AO 2.7.6 (and even there changes were minor), so this is very likely due to changes at Elementor side, in which case excluding as you did is the way to go hanabusagoryu :-/

    I can confirm what @hanabusagoryu said, something is wrong with optimize after the last update…
    My website is broken too.
    When deactivated, all is good and elementor did not update anything for few days.

    EDIT: Gosh I don’t know anymore… even deactivated it show weird display still…Been at it all afternoon ;-( maybe crazy cache issue….

    OK, so let’s take a step back; can we try to confirm what is breaking things by just disabling CSS or JS or HTML or Image optimization (incl. lazyload). Based on that we can see what the next steps need to be 🙂

    That’s a good way to go.
    For my part I will deactivate and clean all cache and at least see if it IS afterall autoptimize the real problem… (see my edit on my previous message)
    If my site is back then I’ll reactivate Autoptimize with the steps you talked about and will report.

    OK I think it’s not you guys…

    I believe it’s W3 Total Cache that caused the problem.
    And surprisingly, I just got an update from them now…
    Their plugin is deactivated and yours is back on and no problem…

    I will report back if anything is odd. False alarm.

    No, for me it’s Autoptimize. I tested thoroughly and unchecking the CSS optimization or excluding Elementor css files fixed all problems for me.

    I also asked the Elementor support about this and they redirected me to the Autoptimize support since their test also resulted in showing that Autoptimize is the issue by disabling all other plugins.

    Caching seems not be the issue.

    You’ll have to exclude the Elementor CSS as you’re doing hanabusagoryu :-/

    I’d like to chip in this thread too, I’ve been having issues with AO for the last couple of weeks. The only issue I’m seeing is that in the footer area, where the social icons are displayed without formatting (top is in editor, bottom is actual site):

    Disabling AO fixes the issue, but I’d be more interested in getting proper optimization rather than having the footer look good. I’m still wondering though what could cause this behavior.

    Site is https://overheadgames.com/ if you want to take a look into the optimized code, maybe you spot an issue I wasn’t able to.
