    AUTOPTIMIZE

I have both Autoptimize and WPDiscuz on my site.

If I enable Optimize JavaScript Code and Aggregate JS-files on Autoptimize, my sites load in about two seconds but WPDiscuz doe not work.

If I disable Optimize JavaScript Code and Aggregate JS-files, WPDiscuz works fine but I add more than a second to my loading time.

Is there something I can do to keep Optimize JavaScript Code and Aggregate JS-files enabled yet still have WPDiscuz continue to work?

    Morning Neal;
Try adding plugins/wpdiscuz/ to the comma-separated JS optimization exclusion list. If you have “also aggregate inline JS” on, you might have to disable that (or find what to exclude) as well.

    hope this helps,
    frank

Good morning and thanks for getting back to me!

In the Exclude scripts from Autoptimize I already have these:

    wp-includes/js/dist/, wp-includes/js/tinymce/, js/jquery/jquery.js

I don’t know what they mean or how they got there. Should they be there?

those are the default exclusions, better to leave them be, just add the wpdiscuz one after those (don’t forget to include the comma).

    Thanks.

In Autoptimize, the only JAVASCRIPT OPTIONS that I have enabled re:

    Optimize JavaScript Code?
    Aggregate JS-files?

I added: , plugins/wpdiscuz/ but wpDiscuz still not working.

    What’s next?

    (@optimizingmatters)

    ok, so;
    1. is “also aggregate inline JS” off?
    2. try also unticking “minify excluded css/ js” under “misc”
    3. if not OK yet; what JS errors do you see on the browser console?

    nealumphred

    (@nealumphred)

    1. Yes
    2. Done
    3. Not OK yet and do not know where/how to find JS errors on the browser console.

    (@optimizingmatters)

OK, can you share your site’s URL so I can have a look? 🙂

    (@nealumphred)

Do you just want to see the front end or do you want admin access?

    Plugin Author Optimizing Matters

    (@optimizingmatters)

    just the frontend 🙂

    Plugin Author Optimizing Matters

    (@optimizingmatters)

OK, can you re-tick the “static files” option under “misc”?

    nealumphred

    (@nealumphred)

Do you meean: Save aggregated script/css as static files?

    Plugin Author Optimizing Matters

    (@optimizingmatters)

    indeed

    nealumphred

    (@nealumphred)

    That may have done it.

I will send a test comment.

    It worked!

    Bravo!

Now I gotta go make it work on my other five sites.

Anything else I should do or know?

Anything else I should do or know?

Well, start with the default configuration and if something breaks have a look at troubleshooting tips in the AO FAQ and reach out in support forum if you can’t get it working 🙂
