Autopost: can i map some RSS values to custom_field?

I need to insert some values coming from my RSS (may be a custom html tag value contained in <description> item eg. <span>my custom field value</span>) in a custom_field of my wordpress instance. Is it actually possible? Or need in customize the source code of the plugin?
