Autopopulating / Updating Custom Field values of CPTs

We bought the pro version at the company where I work and it’s great, but that project has been paused due to the current situation and external factors.
Nevertheless, I have realized the great potential of the plugin and now I have an idea for a personal project. The available documentation is not very extensive, so I am not sure if the plugin will be able to do what I want:
1. There is a CPT (managed by Toolset). I want to create the individual posts manually and NOT autogenerate them (not as described here: https://json-content-importer.com/pro-version-create-pages/).
2. Some posts of this type will use one API source, other posts of the same type will use another API source (different format).
3. The posts will have several taxonomies and custom fields. I would like to use the API sources to automatically generate the values of these custom fields, so that I can build advanced parametric search forms with Toolset. Some posts would use source 1, others source 2 for field values. Basically, I want to unify multiple API sources into one advanced parametric search in Toolset.
Question 1:
Is it possible to achieve that with a shortcode? I mean filling out custom fields automatically, by placing some JCI shortcode inside the post content.Question 2:
Now, here comes the tricky part: assuming that automated filling of custom fields is possible in this way, I would like them to update periodically (I’m thinking about things like prices, ratings, etc., which constantly change).I guess one way to update the field values would be using a plugin to auto-resave or auto-update the posts. However, with thousands of posts this could be heavy for the server. Perhaps, there is a better, more efficient way?
I would gladly purchase the pro version for myself, if that was possible.
