Autometa Plugin – Need some help from Gurus!

  • Hi People,
I have installed the Autometa Plugin which generates tags for Technorati. I was surprised to see that it changes my main meta tags of the page on every new post that I write. While this might be the ideal way for Technorati to index a page, I think I am ignoring the larger issue of search engine optimisation completely. Do you think I am right or wrong?

  • C’mon guys…:-(

I thought that was a good thing the plugin did both?
You’re lucky, I can’t even get it working after activation 🙁

My only contention was that shouldn’t the general attributes of a website be highlighted in your metadata rather then changing it after every other post. Need further clarifications.

wpnewbie, sorry to hear that 🙁

Whilst your site may wish to have a general set of tags (which can be achieved with autometa – take at look a where I’ve commented out the use of “boakes” as a tag in the source – approx line 144) it’s more appropriate I think, to have each page properly described: which is why I wrote it – the metadata describes the page it’s in, not the site it’s on.

The latest version 0.6, includes the capability to “not include any meta tags”, so you can also do exactly what you’re requesting, and thereafter just include automatic technorati tags.
