Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
hi esmi,
the problem is, i can’t reproduce this behavior – sometimes all works fine for weeks. on other days it happens with every post we publish.
there is no post-modifying plugin activated or anything which could cause a problem like this one.
i could imagine it has something to do with W3 Total Cache. on the other side caching is disabled for logged in users… so caching isn’t related to editing a post
perhaps it has something to do with wp-cron?
is there anything like a “post-log”… something like the apache-access.log for things, wordpress does with posts?

So try disabling it for a while.

There is no “unpublish” cron job in WP core that I’m aware of.

Nope – sorry.
just got the information from the “editing-guys” that it isn’t just unpublishing… sometimes wordpress seems to “forget” images or paragraphs in posts which once were there…
seems to be really a caching problem, which would make it really hard to solve…
i’ll try with disabling the w3tc-plugin now… also i’m trying to write some kind of “what-happens-with-posts”-analyzer
thank you for your help… i’ll let you know, if anything solved the problem 🙂
Have you checked the database after one of these “disappearances” to see if that object is still in the database?
