    Hi Kyle.
Is there a way to automatically generate a thumb with your plugin right after a video has been uploaded by a user (or via media REST API)?

    Thanks

Yes, if you have FFMPEG on your server this is an option in the FFMPEG settings page. I haven’t come up with a way to do automatic thumbnail generation without it.

It works, thanks, but what about adding an overlay image in the thumb only? Is it possible?

I haven’t made a way to do that, but it shouldn’t be too complicated. I’ll add it in a future release. I created an issue on GitHub so you can track my progress. Don’t expect it any time soon because I’m busy with my day job and not actively developing the plugin at the moment.

    That’s ok.
I’ll manage to do that by myself.
Thanks for all your work, Kyle

Hi I have the same question “Is there a way to automatically generate a thumb with your plugin right after a video has been uploaded by a user”
and also we have FFMPEG on our server… how did you access your FFMPEG settings page?
    Thanks for your help.

Hi, Mnohtm. I can answer, even if I’m not the author of the plugin. The plugin works quit well. If you have ffmpeg installed and available for general use in your server, then you’re ok. You don’t have to do any further step. With ffmpeg available, the configuration page of the plugin will show-up with an additional tab, exactly the “FFMPEG” tab. There you have plenty of options for generating thumbs.
If you don’t see that Tab, then may be the ffmpeg libraries are not accessible from the web server env path.

Even if you don’t have FFMPEG installed, you should always be able to see the FFMPEG Settings tab on the plugin’s settings page, unless you’re running WordPress Multisite, then it’s only available in the Network Settings.
