• QUESTION:
Is there any way to automatically duplicate all new posts (with tags, categories, featured images) to a WordPress.com site?

WHY DO I WANT TO DO THIS:
I was originally looking to migrate my blog from WordPress.com to a self hosted wordpress, but then I realised I would lose all my WordPress.com community followers.

By creating a duplicate posting on WordPress.com I am hoping to keep all my WordPress.com followers AND gain the flexibility of plug-ins and especially the Google Analytics for unique visitors etc.

HOW DO I SEE IT WORKING?
    1. I hit publish a new post on my self hosted site.
    2. Nice add-ins do things like set the featured image.
    3. An add-in then takes the new post and duplicates it onto WordPress.com
    4. WordPress.com then publishes it to my WordPress.com followers.

Point 3 is the missing piece to the puzzle. Does anyone have a plugin that can help (or even any other ideas/workflow/mechanism that will achieve the same goal overall?)

    WHAT IS THE BLOG SITE:
    New: https://wilkes888.com
    Old: https://wilkes888.wordpress.com

    Thanks in advance all.

And if you do duplicate the content, you will get hit by Google’s duplicate content penalty. Why not just pull the RSS feed from your .org site into the .com site using the native RSS Widget?

    Hi esmi,

Thanks for the warning. I didn’t realise there was a Google “duplicate content penalty”.

    I am not familiar with the native “RSS Widget” but I’ve just read this;
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-widget/

Unless I’m mistaken, it looks like my followers won’t be alerted to new content from the feed. Is that correct?

Not via the widget, no. That can only be used to post linked content from the new site onto the old one. But you could make one last post on the .com site giving your new self-hosted site’s url and a link to the feed from your new site.
