Automatically Create individual Photo Posts from selected media

  • Hello!

I’ve been looking and looking and didn’t find a suitable solution. Maybe I just missed it and you folks know a way or plugin to get the job done.

Basically I have a batch of photos on my harddisk that I want to create individual WordPress posts out of. Enough to make me want to automate it instead of doing it one by one.

Here’s the tricky part: all the photos have a “created date/time” and I wand the posts to reflect that in terms of the published-date. So if a photo was taken in 2007 I want it to be published in 2007 (Archive function).

I don’t actually care how the photos get uploaded, but they need to be imported into the wordpress library.

so far I have looked into different ways to do it:
[x] with dropbox and ifttt.org – would just create posts without importing them into wordpress.
[x] ftp and “add from server” plugin. creates the files into wordpress library but doesn’t create posts out of it.
[x] upload with drag & drop into the library but again, doesn’t create posts out of it.

    so what i’m after:
    1. get photos into library OR work from existing photos from library would be ok to
    2. select photos
    3. create photo posts (best case: with medium size and linked to full version)
    4. change published-date to the date the photo was taken (EXIF?)

i hoped there would be something for that out there. maybe i was just using all the wrong keywords looking for it.

    thanks for your help!

  • I’m looking for something very similar to what you are looking for here. Did you ever find an answer? Thanks!

This is almost exactly what I’m looking for to.

And so far there does not seam to be any way.

Very strange to me that it haven’t been created.

I’m a photographer that uploads plenty of photos to my site, currently via dropbox to ftp – folder, because I want to automate as much as possible and focus on taking and editing the photos.

So far the only thing I know is that I can get a gallery produced form the “folder” that are automatically filled when put it in specific dropbox folder. With the filename as “label” and lightbox and so on.

Though getting a post created is not happening.

From my perspective is creating a photo post a must when using wordpress since the rest basically goes from there – selling, displaying, feed and more.

Please tell me if you have any other way of approaching this or a solution.
