I am receiving daily emails telling me that my site “has been updated automatically to WordPress 4.9.7” – 11 so far, but when I visit the dashboard I find that I am still on 4.9.6.

If I then attempt to update manually, it seems to happen, but I then get the “Welcome to WordPress 4.9.6” page. Can I do anything to get out of this loop? the site is working fine.

hi,

what is the result when you click Dashboard > Updates and updating WordPress from there?

Thank you Auladag. After a minute or two, I get the “Welcome to WordPress 4.9.6” page. It has apparently done nothing, but there is no error message. Should I just turn off automatic pdates and wait for the next release?

@udobo, have you contacted hosting company about this situation?

No I haven’t. Do you think the problem could be with them? Automatic updates have always worked before.

Well you need to tighten every possible loose ends.

I contacted the ISP and they cleared the cache on my Dashboard. Many thanks for the advice auladag.
