The main thing left is wp-cron. The plugin uses the WordPress “cron” system to schedule thumbnail and encoding processes. It’s possible that it’s being disrupted somehow. Do you have any plugins activated that are designed to interrupt wp-cron? If so, try disabling them. * [WP Control](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-crontrol/) lets you see what wp- cron processes are scheduled. Clicking “Generate all Thumbnails” is accomplished immediately via an AJAX request. Both require FFMPEG.
