Support » Plugin: Facebook for WooCommerce » Automatic publication on the FB page after adding a product via woocommerce

    Hello,

I have a wordpress – woocommerce e-shop and there I have a meta pixel plugin installed, which automatically synchronizes my products from the e-shop to the FB catalog and when I add a new product or edit it, my FB page automatically creates a new post for all page followers that I added a new product, and I don’t want this to happen. Can this publication be turned off?

    Hi there @meviadesign

Thank you for reaching out! As I understand, there is an undesired publication of new Facebook page posts, every time a product is added, or edited. Correct?

Could you clarify, if the product(s) are added, or edited, through their WooCommerce product page, please?

To help you further, I’d like to understand more about your setup.

Could you please send me a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.

Once you’ve done that, you can paste the text in https://gist.github.com/, or https://pastebin.com/, and feel free to change/remove your site URL in the report for privacy reasons.

You can paste the Gist/Pastebin link here in your reply, once you have that.

Also, could you please navigate to WooCommerce > Status > Logs and from the dropdown on the right side, please see if there are any logs starting with the words fatal-error.

If so, please select View and copy and paste them into your reply here.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hello @meviadesign

Thank you for reaching back, with further information on this!

Could you go ahead with the following steps, and let us know if the issue persists, please?

    Tools to help with troubleshooting

Meks Quick Plugin Disabler will remember what plugins you had active when you switch it back on.

You can clone your site to a staging environment and perform tests without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

Please let us know how that goes.

Oh, I don’t want to do all this :/ So the fact that it automatically shares new products like this on FB is a bug? I’ve also noticed it with other sites I follow. Isn’t there a setting somewhere where it can be turned off? In the meta settings of business manager or something.

    Hello @meviadesign,

I know we’ve asked for clarification for more than one time, but I would like to make sure we’re on the same page. 🙂

Is your concern here that WooCommerce products are added to the Facebook catalogue automatically?

If so, you can just choose “Do not sync” in Facebook settings when publishing the product.

More information about product visibility can be found here: https://woocommerce.com/document/facebook-for-woocommerce/#facebook-product-data

    Hope this helps!

I guess we don’t understand each other. The fact that the products are displayed in the catalog on the FB page is good, I want to keep it, but I don’t want Facebook to create a post every time after uploading a new product and thus spam people. If I choose the do not sync option, they won’t even be displayed, that’s not the solution to my problem.

    Hello,

I understand that you would like to delete the item from the Facebook feed.

May I ask is the product running a campaign?

You can configure the products that should be excluded from sync from within the plugin’s settings or from each of the product’s Edit Product pages, to learn more, please check:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/facebook-for-woocommerce/#how-to-manage-your-woocommerce-catalog

To manually delete each of the products that synced to Facebook already, you can use the “Delete product(s) on Facebook” option, from within the Edit Product page.

Let us know how that goes.

    Hello Igor,

no, you still don’t understand me.

I don’t have a campaign running or anything. When I normally upload a product to my e-shop via Woocommerce, Facebook automatically publishes on the page that my page has added a new product to the catalog. I want to prevent Facebook from automatically creating posts about the fact that I added a new product. I don’t want to delete it manually, I want it not to be created by itself.

I repeat, I add products only in the wordpress (woocommers) interface, not manually in the catalog on FB, it is synchronized there by itself and it automatically creates posts about it and spams people who follow my page.

I want the products that I have in my e-shop to be displayed in the catalog on FB, but I don’t want FB to create posts about adding a new product by itself, and I’m trying to find a setting to stop it.

This is what the product setup looks like.

    Hi @meviadesign

I understand that every time a new product is added to your site, a new Facebook post is being created automatically and you would like it to be prevented, correct?

Can you please check under the Publish section of the Product Edit page and see if you have enabled sharing to Facebook under Jetpack Social? On my personal site, I have enabled sharing to LinkedIn as you can see below.

If so, please click Settings and try to disable the sharing and see if this works?

    Hello,

Thank you for your response, yes you understand me correctly.
I’ll attach a photo of how it looks at my place, unfortunately there is nothing like that.

There is nothing like that even in the edit button (Upraviť in Slovak language)

    Hi @meviadesign

Thanks for your confirmation that these settings are not displayed under the Product menu.

Can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce and Facebook for WooCommerce plugins are enabled, add a new product and see if this resolves the issue?

If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

Hello …. no, this can’t be a bug… I see it on the other five sites that I personally follow, I’m not going to redesign the entire eshop and try to turn things off here, I don’t have time for that. It doesn’t exist so that it can’t be turned off, because it spams me personally too, I have 5 e-shops followed and I get this kind of spam from everyone. I dealt with facebook support and they referred me to plugin support, now you’re texting me this, so what should I do?
