# Automatic Post Format Based On Post Type

 * I’m having some slight difficulty in finding support on this. Basically here 
   is my setup, I used “FeedWordPress” to generate post automatically from Atom 
   Feeds and post them into custom Post Types.
 * Video Feed = “video_feed” Post Type -> Styled with “Video” Post Format
    Image
   Feed = “image_feed” Post Type -> Styled with “Image” Post Format Status Feed 
   = “status_feed” Post Type -> Styled with “Status” Post Format
 * So on and so forth.
 * Now the question I have, is there a way to assign a post format to automatically
   be selected by the post within its Post Type to be used when it is automatically
   published with FeedWordPress. (Which automatically chooses the “Standard” post
   format) Currently I have to tell FeedWordPress to hold all post as “Pending” 
   so that I can manually set the Post Format, which of course hinders the In Real
   Time style I am trying to achieve.

 * Your question is a bit confusing, because “Post Type” and “Post Format” are not
   interchangeable.
 * Note that “Post Type” refers to the _content_ type, of which “Post” is one type(
   also, “Page”, “Attachment”, etc.). Further, note that “Post Format” is a _taxonomy_
   that applies _only_ to the “Post” Post-Type.
 * Now, if I’m understanding your question correctly: you want to be able to _assign
   a Post Format_ from FeedWordPress? If so, then you’re in the wrong forum. You
   need to ask your question in the Plugins forum. Specifically, you should as in
   the [FeedWordPress Plugin support forum](http://wordpress.org/tags/feedwordpress?forum_id=10).

 * My apologies, I managed to get what I was looking for by applying a different
   method to retrive post for the Loop via Post Type’s directly rather then trying
   to style them with Post Format’s.
