# Automatic plugin upgrade problem

 * I have a following problem. Every time I try to automatically upgrade plugins,
   during the upgrade process the original plugin is deleted and then I get error
   message that the upgrade was not successful and I end up without having the particular
   plugin as the original version is deleted and the new version is not installed.
   I have to manually copy the plugin folder to my plugin directory on the server.
   
   Any idea what is causing this problem with automatic plugin upgrades?

 * It could be due to security restrictions imposed by your hosting provider. Without
   knowing the exact error message. it’s hard to say. Is there anything specific
   in your server’s error logs?

 * error message says: new directory couldn’t be created, /data2/vnique/html/vnique/
   wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress
 * but the old version is deleted before wp tries to create directory for the new
   version of the plugin…
