# Automatic Excerpt Not Working

 * I’m using `the_excerpt();` on a page listing my blogs, and automatic excerpts
   do not pop up (_but manual excerpts will_).
 * **What I’ve Tried/Figured Out So Far:**
    - It’s not a word/character length issue (as far as I can tell)
    - Manual excerpts work fine
    - `the_content();` works fine
    - I removed my custom functions.php to make sure there wasn’t any conflicting
      code on my end
    - I’ve tried `the_excerpt();` and `get_the_excerpt();`
 * Any help or direction appreciated
