Automatic Custom Field ENtry

First time posting here.

On EVERY single order on my woocommerce site, it adds a CUSTOM FIELD entry
is_vat_exempt > no

My website does not have tax embedded into it. I use the CUSTOM FIELDS to enter SERIAL NUMBERS for products. I was wondering if there was a way to stop the website from automatically adding that is_vat_exempt entry? There must be a setting, it’s been a few weeks and i cannot find it for the life of me lol.

Someone, anyone please help 🙂 thanks.

To further check into this, kindly provide us your System Status; you can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select ‘Get system report’ and then ‘Copy for support’. Once you do this, paste in here your response.

There are no Errors in my error log :))

ie.
This order was generated today. It is adding a CUSTOM FIELD ENTRY by itself. I DON’T WANT IT to add “isvatexempt” as a custom entry. I just want it to leave it blank.

I found an enhancement issue in Github for core WooCommerce with a request to disable post meta data like is_vat_exempt when taxes are not enabled. The Github issue is open with a low priority, this means the enhancement could be implemented sometime in the future but has not a high priority:

Feel free to add your comments to the thread so that it grabs directly the attention of the developers.

As per removing the custom field table, you can either manually remove it or you’d need customization if it has to be done programmatically. You can start from this WordPress function: https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/remove_meta_box/.

If you do require more help with the actual coding, we’d recommend hiring a developer or one of the customization experts listed at https://woocommerce.com/customizations/.

It’s not a good idea to remove the meta key is_vat_exempt but you can delete it in the wp_postmeta database table or use a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/delete-custom-fields/ if you really want to. More info here:

* Note that the meta key will be permanently removed so you may want to make a full backup of the database first. If something goes wrong it’s nice to know that you can restore your database to the previous state.

Oh I see, so this is pretty much an auto-generated code on anything without tax? – Yeah, no it’s not a big priority, manually removing it is safer. 🙂
