Support » Plugin: Backup, Restore and Migrate WordPress Sites With the XCloner Plugin » Automatic cloning to failover possible?

  • Resolved sshanky

I am wondering if XCloner would be a good solution for daily cloning a site to a failover location. Could a job be set up to back up the wp-content directory and database to a cloud location, and then another job be set up on the failover server to restore that backup daily, automatically? Or, maybe the script could back up the primary site directly at the failover site, with no cloud storage needed. No URLs need to be changed, as this failover site will be used only in case of an outage at the primary site.

  • You could use xcloner to automatically transfer the backup to failover target, however automatic restore would require a custom script to be created, one which will extract the archive files and then import the database and update the wordpress config settings where needed.
