Automated Title settings : how to append more than just the Site Name?

    Hi! Great plugin thank you so much.

    I can’t, for the life of me, find something simple. Let’s say my site is named “MySite”, and a random post is named “Is Trump crazy?”. It’s very easy for me to have my SEO title look something like “Is Trump crazy? • MySite”.

    Now, I would like to try a little bit more SEO-ambitious title like: “Is Trump crazy? • MySite, news and opinions”. I could sure add “MySite, news and opinions” as my whole sitename, but it would mess up other parts of my site which I don’t want to.

    Is there a way to simply append the same string to all my titles?

    Hi @ntel, I believe you are referring to Site Title. You can find this setting under:

    Settings > General > Site Title

    Thanks for your answer!

    However, I am aware that I can change my title in Settings > General > Site Title. In that case, I would prefer not to do this because of implications it has in other parts of my site.

    I would like to append this to my title *only* in the context of SEO title slugs. I wonder if that is possible with The SEO Framework.

    To my knowledge there are no other implications, other than your theme might be displaying the title somewhere. Check out google recommendations about titles. Can you explain in detail, what is your concern?

    Hi @ntel,

    What you’re asking for currently isn’t possible, as @lebaux says correctly.

    There are plans to make this possible, in two ways:

    1. Verbose title options, ETA mid-late 2018.
    2. Disable title additions on per-page basis, ETA end of 2017, early 2018.

    In the meantime you could use filters… but that’s dreadful to maintain.
    In any case, take the “recommendations about titles” (which lebaux linked to) in close regard.

    Keeping the recommendations in mind, any of these would be good title outputs:

    Is Trump crazy? • News and Opinions • MySite
Is Trump crazy? • News and opinions on MySite
News and opinions: Is Trump crazy? • MySite

    You can already easily recreate the first and last example title 🙂
