• I am rather new to WP, but I’m learning! (Using WP 2.8.5)
What I want to find out is how subscribers can receive a sequence of lessons. For example, when they subsribe to these lessons, they immediately (well, after confirming of course) receive the first lesson in their mailbox; the second should be sent automatically some days later, the third again some days later, and so on.
Is there a plugin available for something like this?
I don’t know how to name this option precisely, hope my tags aren’t badly named.

  • Yaro Starak is a well known membership site maestro and uses WP with Aweber (about $20 a month) for automated emails. Search for ‘The Membership Site Masterplan’

@richarduk: thank you very much for your reply. I have been looking Yaro Staraks’ Membership Site and into Aweber.
But after some more sniffing around on the internet I found this free option, called MailChimp, which also has a plugin for WordPress.
It is not tested with the latest WordPress version (2.8.5), but I installed it anyway and untill now it seems to work fine, but I must say still testing it.
Just sometimes it seems as if the MailChimp website is terribly slow (that is where you define your lists before you can use the WP-plugin), I’m not sure if that has anything to do with their website or with my own internet-connection.

    Hey rdw

I don’t personally have any experience with MailChimp, but I can second the recommendation on Aweber as a good Autoresponder. In addition to sending out a series of pre-written messages, Aweber also has allows Broadcast messages that you can send out to your list at any time without having to add them to the list of emails (great if you want to make an announcement or offer a special deal/affiliate offer to your readership.

There’s also the Blog Broadcast feature that allows you to send automated updates when you post new content, which can help increase return traffic.

As I said, I haven’t used MailChimp so I don’t know how many (if any) of these other features they offer, but I’ve had great success with Aweber’s services and deliverability.

    Best of luck!
