We run all sites with Better WP Security and either WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache or Quick Cache. Do any of these plugins conflict with Automatic Updater? AU is not working on any of our sites both single installs and wp networks. We have installed on over 100 sites so you can see why this would be a great help since a lot of our clients hardly ever log in.

There shouldn’t be a problem with any of the cache plugins, Automatic Updater just uses the core update functions.

There may be an incompatibility with Better WP Security, which blocks some update information. In Security -> Tweaks -> Dashboard Tweaks, could you please check that all of the update notifications boxes are unchecked?

Thanks Gary, I bet that is it. I will let you know if it starts updating.

I got bitten by this too. AU simply would not work on my site, and there was no log or indication anywhere about why it was failing to update. Had to resort to trial and error, and finally nailed the problem down to Better WP Security. Disabling the plugin overnight got AU working again. Of course I don’t want to leave the plugin disabled. So it looks like the culprit is the setting “Hide core update notifications from users who cannot update themes?” However that setting also says “Please note that this only makes a difference in multi-site installations” which this site is not.

So… maybe the note that it only affects multi-site installations is incorrect?

Yes, I uncheck all of the following under Tweaks in single and mu sites. However, I’ve started using things that pull fewer resources. Installing Cloudflare is one of my favorite tools. It helps a lot.
    Dashboard Tweaks

    Hide Theme Update Notifications
Hides theme update notifications from users who cannot update themes. Please note that this only makes a difference in multi-site installations.
    Hide Plugin Update Notifications
Hides plugin update notifications from users who cannot update themes. Please note that this only makes a difference in multi-site installations.
    Hide Core Update Notifications
Hides core update notifications from users who cannot update themes. Please note that this only makes a difference in multi-site installations.

The settings mentioned in this thread don’t exist anymore, but I think there might still be a conflict. Does anyone know what the new conflicting settings are?
